Within the framework of the trip, the delegation worked with the Tan Phuoc Fishing Port Management Board, directly inspecting the management and supervision of fishing vessels entering and leaving the port.
At the meeting, Standing Deputy Inspector General Nguyen Quoc Doan requested the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee to continue directing departments, sectors and localities to strengthen support for fishermen in completing dossiers and supplementing all required documents in accordance with regulations, ensuring that fishing vessels are fully eligible to participate in lawful exploitation. At the same time, he emphasized the need for strict management of vessels that do not meet the required conditions, resolutely preventing such vessels from going to sea.

The delegation also boarded fishing vessels currently moored at the port to inquire about fishing methods and operating fishing grounds, and to inspect legal documents, fishing logbooks, as well as the installation and operation of vessel monitoring system (VMS) equipment.
In addition, the delegation examined the operation of the electronic catch documentation and traceability system (eCDT), monitoring the coordinates of fishing vessels entering and leaving ports through the surveillance system, to ensure transparency and consistency in the management of fisheries exploitation activities.
On this occasion, the delegation visited, presented gifts to, and encouraged the family of fisherman Nguyen Van Liem, residing in Phuoc Tan hamlet, Long Hai commune, while also exchanging views on offshore production conditions as well as fishermen’s awareness and responsibility in complying with legal regulations on IUU fishing prevention.
The inspection and survey activities of the Government Inspectorate aim to promptly assess the current situation and address difficulties and obstacles in IUU fishing prevention, thereby contributing to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management of fisheries exploitation activities, towards the goal of sustainable fisheries development.
