According to VNA, the Military Command of the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh held a ground-breaking ceremony on March 12 for a project to upgrade a revolutionary historical relic site associated with the LPRP.

The site is located within the headquarters of the Military Command in Hoa Binh city, where the Lao People’s Party (now the LPRP) held political training and a preparatory session for its second congress in December 1971.

The project aims to preserve and uphold the values of the site, thus demonstrating the solidarity, time-honoured relations, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, said Colonel Nguyen Quoc Toan, Commander of the provincial Military Command.

Covering an area of nearly 1,000 sq.m, the project will upgrade a traditional house and hall as well as other facilities, with funding of around VND 47.1 billion (USD 2 million) sourced from local and central budgets.

The provincial People’s Committee has assigned the Military Command as the main investor.

Once open, the site will help educate the younger generations about the revolutionary traditions and the friendship between the two countries.

Over the past 58 years, the Vietnam-Laos traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation have been consolidated and developed intensively and extensively.

Vietnam has provided some non-refundable aid to Laos valued at VND 930 billion (USD 40.43 million) in 2020, increasing by 30 per cent on-year. This is the third consecutive year when the entire planned budget is disbursed. Over the last 10 years, Vietnam's non-refundable aid to Laos reached VND 6.35 trillion (USD 276.1 million), putting into use 54 projects of high quality.

Vietnam now ranks third among the countries and territories investing in Laos with over 400 projects worth some USD 4.2 billion, according to the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Laos./.
