The event was organized to celebrate International Children's Day (June 1) and to respond to the 2026 Action Month for Children, launched by Children's Health Magazine under the theme “Happy, Safe Children Moving Forward Confidently in the Digital Era.”
Beyond support activities, care services, and gift-giving, the Compassionate Connection Day for Children aims to pursue a long-term mission of accompanying children with disabilities on their journey toward social integration. The program also seeks to connect career orientation initiatives, vocational training opportunities, and future employment prospects, while linking businesses and consumers with products made by children with disabilities.
Participating organizations included schools and educational centers for children with disabilities, such as Xa Dan Primary and Secondary School, Nguyen Dinh Chieu Primary and Secondary School, and centers affiliated with the Vietnam Association for the Support of Disabled Children.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Tran Doan Tien, Editor-in-Chief of Children's Health Magazine and Head of the Organizing Committee, said that the program was designed to create a space for recreation, experiential learning, connection, and comprehensive care for children. It also serves as an opportunity to bring together businesses, entrepreneurs, artists, medical professionals, and benefactors to support children with disabilities and children in especially difficult circumstances.

Ngo Sach Thuc, Member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Chairman of the Vietnam Association for the Support of Persons with Disabilities, highly appreciated the significance and broad impact of the program. He noted that the event not only provides a space for recreation, experience-sharing, and comprehensive care for children, but also helps spread compassion and mobilize community support for children with disabilities and children facing special hardships.
According to him, the ultimate goal is to help children with disabilities live as equal members of society, with opportunities to study, develop skills, receive career guidance, undergo vocational training, and find suitable employment so that they can confidently affirm their self-worth.
As part of the event, the Organizing Committee coordinated with the Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Control (A05) under the Ministry of Public Security to organize a thematic session on protecting children in cyberspace. The program aimed to equip parents and children with knowledge and skills for safe internet use amid increasingly rapid digital transformation.
The event also featured a seminar titled “A Multidisciplinary Approach to the Diagnosis, Counseling, and Psychological Therapy of Children with Developmental Disorders.” The seminar brought together experts in psychotherapy, special education, pediatric medicine, and psychiatry, with the goal of raising public awareness of children's mental health while providing practical support solutions for parents and caregivers.

In addition, the event featured experiential and interactive play areas, community charity booths, exhibitions of products made by children with disabilities, as well as artistic performances, children's fashion shows, and a music gala.
A range of practical activities was also implemented, including free health examinations and consultations in nutrition, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, dentistry, and mental health.
According to the Organizing Committee, the Compassionate Connection Day for Children goes beyond immediate support activities and is oriented toward the long-term goal of accompanying children with disabilities throughout their journey toward adulthood and social integration. Through career guidance, vocational training, skills development, and future employment connections, the program is expected to help lay a foundation for these children to confidently affirm their self-worth and lead independent lives.
