In the economic report on July 20, Standard Chartered Bank raised its forecast for Vietnam GDP growth in 2026 to 9,5%, reflecting the economy’s solid growth momentum and the continued implementation of growth support policies. The Bank expects this momentum will be maintained in the next year, with the forecast for Vietnam GDP growth in 2027 to 11%.

Besides, Standard Chartered also lowered its inflation forecasts to 4.4% for 2026 and 3.3% for 2027, indicating that inflationary pressures are gradually easing. The bank expects policy interest rates to remain stable to support growth targets while controlling inflation.

The Senior Economist for Vietnam and Thailand at Standard Chartered Bank Tim Leelahaphan, said that: “Vietnam’s economy demonstrated strong resilience and adaptability in the first half of 2026, with growth exceeding expectations by improvements in manufacturing, services, and investment industries, together with support from policy measures boosting growth”.

Leelahaphan noted that although global uncertainties and inflationary pressures needed more monitoring, Vietnam was entering the second half of the year from a stable position. Strong domestic demand, continued investment in infrastructure and manufacturing capacity, along with the ongoing economic transformation, will consolidate a more balanced and sustainable growth model, thereby supporting Vietnam’s long-term development goals.
