The Korean language and cultural institute King Sejong - Tra Vinh (Tra Vinh King Sejong Institute) is a joint project with matching fund between Tra Vinh University of Vietnam and Seojong University of Korea.

The project is funded by the South Korean government’s King Sejong Institute to teach Korean language and promote Korean culture to the community.

At the King Sejong Institute, the management staff and lecturers must meet the professional requirements of the institute and tuition fees are collected based on a community support rate. The institute offers various Korean programs, such as online programs taught by lecturers from Seojeong University or online and face-to-face programs delivered by the Tra Vinh King Sejong Institute teachers.

The face-to-face classes are held at the Victory Center for Informatics – Foreign Languages. In addition, the Institute designs a program specifically for Tra Vinh University students, so they can achieve a level 3 in TOPIK, the test in proficiency in Korean for non-native Korean speakers.

At the ceremony, Rector of Tra Vinh University Pham Tiet Khanh said the institute’s missions were to teach the Korean language and serve as a center for promoting cultural exchange between Vietnam and Korea in Tra Vinh and neighboring provinces. The institute would cement Tra Vinh University’s role as a focal point for the international collaboration of the province.

The establishment of the Tra Vinh King Sejong Institute is a valuable opportunity for the university to boost Korean language and cultural learning amongst its students and the wider public. It marks a milestone in the blossoming collaborative relationships between Tra Vinh University and its Korean partners.

President of the Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee Le Van Han said, “Korean businesses are currently some of the province’s partners with large investment capital. There are also locals who love Korean culture and hope to find opportunities to study and work in Korea. The launching of the Tra Vinh King Sejong Institute, which offers language and cultural exchange programs, is of great importance. The institute should develop programs for workers at industrial zones and seasonal workers in Korea via the Tra Vinh Provincial Department of Labor, Invalid and Social Affairs, as well as Vietnamese women married into Korean families.”

To celebrate its inauguration, the Tra Vinh King Sejong Institute will launch a Korean course at the beginning to early intermediate level taught by lecturers from Seojong University and the institute, with tuition discounts for students, civil servants and other groups wishing to attend the course.

The following groups are eligible for the course: Tra Vinh University students aiming to achieve a TOPIK level 3 (requirements for skipping non-specialized language courses at university), students planning to study in Korea, people wishing to work or travel in Korea or marry into Korean families, laborers working for Korean companies in Vietnam and abroad, and individuals who love and want to study the Korean language in Vietnam and abroad.
