Travellers touch the clouds in Hang Dong
At Hang Dong in the northern mountainous province of Son La this season, you can see a sea of clouds and experience touching the sky and feel the cold seeping into flesh.
Hang Dong is one of the rooftops of Son La province with an altitude of over 2,000 m. The terrain here is like a giant basin, leaning against the range of Ta Xua.
November, when the first northeast monsoon winds cover northern mountainous provinces, is the best time to visit Hang Dong. "The land of heaven" is known as a location for “hunting clouds” in Vietnam.
It is only about 30 km from the center of Bac Yen District, but the road to Hang Dong is rough.
Hang Dong is covered by cloud and haze all year round because the humidity here is very high. Even in the hot summer days, the temperature in Hang Dong is lower than other places in the area by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius.
The most ideal conditions to see the clouds is when the cold air combines with high humidity and a vast valley to make a sea of fantasy clouds. All the necessary and sufficient conditions converge in Hang Dong.
