UAE Embassy in Vietnam Hosts Friendly Football Tournament

Vietnamese diplomats have caught World Cup fever! Over the weeknd, the Diplomatic Football Challenge 2022 held by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy in Hanoi was a success with players from the UAE Embassy in Vietnam, members of the diplomatic corps and colleagues,local and international friends

On 18 December 2022, at the Quang An football field (Tay Ho district, Ha Noi city), a friendly football tournament event took place under the theme “Diplomatic Football Challenge”. This event was organized by the UAE Embassy in Vietnam.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is well known as a trailblazing country with profound the messages of peace, tolerance and friendly cooperation with countries around the world.

The UAE, under the leadership of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, continues the path of developing UAE become a prosperous country, joining hands with the international community to ensure a better and more sustainable tomorrow for the world and future generations, with view to continuing the wishes and legacy of the country's Founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In the process of the national development over the past five decades, the UAE always considers to promote youth's role and empowerment. Accordingly, the UAE Embassy in Vietnam had given a lot of support to the friendly sports events both at home and abroad.

Mr. Abdulla Alhameli - Charge d’Affaires a.i of the UAE Embassy gave the opening speech:

"This friendly football tournament not only presents a profound meaning towards the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between UAE and Vietnam (1993 - 2023) and Welcome the New Year 2023, but also an occasion so that the football teams have the opportunity to play with each other, further deepen the close relationship and friendship among diplomatic missions,"

According to the diplomat from the UAE Embassy in Ha Noi, the friendship between UAE and Vietnam has become more and more fruitful and the bilateral cooperation strongly consolidated and developed over the past thirty years.

Since the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam officially established diplomatic relations in 1993, the two countries have so far achieved many achievements in many fields. The celebration of the 30th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations is the same time the two countries winning the position of non-permanent members of the Council.

On many occasion, the international community has recognized the global contribution of both the UAE and Vietnam such as: the two countries became members of the United Nations Security for the term 2020 - 2021 and 2022 - 2023; members of the Human Rights Council for the term 2022 - 2024 and 2023 - 2025; and the fact that Vietnam was elected Vice President of the 77th United Nations General Assembly.

On the other hand, the UAE won the right to host the COP 28 Climate Change Conference in 2023 and the opening of Expo 2020 Dubai in early October 2021, an outstanding international event with the participation of many countries and cultures around the world. It is a testament to the great efforts of the past years and a symbol of the beginning of the UAE's journey of the next 50 years towards more glorious achievements.

Notably, the good relationship between UAE - Vietnam has been increasingly developed and diversified. The two countries have continued to cooperate effectively in many fields such as politics, diplomacy, trade, investment, aviation, culture, education, labor and tourism. Besides maintaining flights, high-level visits, investment promotion, trade and people-to-people exchanges, there are many Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding signed between the two sides as well as mutual support at international economy forums, reflecting the great potential in the cooperation relationship between the two countries.

Right after the opening ceremony of the “Diplomatic Football Challenge," interesting matches took place in a joyful atmosphere and filled with laughters.

In front of enthusiastic cheers from the fans, all participants played well, displaying good sportsmanship and top athleticism.
