The conference drew the attention and participation of representatives from nearly 130 countries and international organizations, focusing on efforts to promote the implementation of the two-state solution and the creation of sustainable peace in the Middle East.

During the first two working days, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly Philemon Yang, along with more than 60 ministers and senior officials from various countries, delivered remarks emphasizing the significance of the conference. They expressed hope that it would serve as a milestone and renewed impetus to restart the dialogue process toward the peaceful coexistence of the State of Palestine and Israel.

Delegates called on the international community to support the development of a roadmap for the establishment of an independent State of Palestine, while ensuring Israel’s security. They affirmed that the recognition of the State of Palestine is a key factor for peace and stability in the Middle East.

In the context of prolonged conflict and a humanitarian crisis in Gaza reaching alarming levels, most delegates urged all relevant parties to exercise restraint and immediately cease all unilateral actions and violations of international law, which hinder the prospects for realizing the two-state solution.

At the plenary discussion session on the afternoon of July 28, Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations, delivered a statement reaffirming Vietnam's consistent position in support of the two-state solution and full UN membership for Palestine. He expressed deep and unwavering solidarity with the just struggle of the Palestinian people.

The Ambassador called on all parties to return to negotiations and adhere to the UN Charter, international law, the provisional measures of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and relevant United Nations resolutions.

Ambassador Do Hung Viet emphasized that Vietnam’s history of resisting foreign aggression and fighting for national independence motivated its early recognition of the State of Palestine 37 years ago and its steadfast support for the two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders. He stressed that Vietnam is committed to continuing its contributions and active participation in the process of promoting peace and post-conflict reconstruction in Gaza, thereby helping to ensure peace, stability, and sustainable development for the Palestinian people.

Earlier, on July 23, during the Open Debate of the United Nations Security Council on the situation in the Middle East and Palestine, Ambassador Do Hung Viet also delivered a statement expressing deep concern over the protracted conflict, acts of violence targeting women and children, and the worsening hunger crisis in Gaza.

The Ambassador called on all parties to implement a ceasefire, release hostages, and refrain from unilateral actions that obstruct the efforts of the United Nations and humanitarian organizations in providing relief to affected civilians.

Ambassador Do Hung Viet reaffirmed Vietnam’s unwavering position in supporting the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the implementation of the two-state solution.
