The 8th International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC) took place with the theme "Safe and Secure Seas – Emerging Stronger as a Maritime Community."

The conference was organized by the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Changi Exhibition Center.

The Vietnamese delegation led by Rear Admiral Nguyen Dinh Hung, deputy commander of the Vietnam People's Navy attended the conference.

The IMSC attracted more than 400 international participants from navies, coast guards, maritime industries, international scholars and consulting organizations from nearly 40 countries.

The conference consisted of 3 discussion sessions on the following topics: impact of improvements on maritime security; measures by which maritime authorities can promote peace and stability; cooperation in the future maritime environment.

This year's IMSC also has a special session on the theme "Adjusting the role of the community to growing maritime threats," discussing the role of the coast guard and law enforcement agencies at sea.

At the discussion session, the scholars emphasized the importance of maritime enforcement agencies in providing maritime security and safety, promoting safe seas and maintaining maritime security.

This year's IMSC features speakers from maritime enforcement agencies and the coast guard for the first time.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Rear Admiral Sean Wat, chief of the RSN underscored that the attendance of delegates in the event created a maritime community working together to address maritime security challenges, including piracy, illegal fishing and other economic activities at sea. Rear Admiral Sean Wat also presented new challenges such as climate change, affecting economic, and maritime activities.
