Vietnamese Naval Ship Performs Defence Diplomacy Tasks in Singapore, Philippines

During their stay in Singapore from May 1-5, the delegation will participate in activities within the framework of the ASEAN-India Maritime Exercise (AIME), a workshop on humanitarian assistance and disaster reduction (HADR), professional exchange, and the International Maritime and Defence Exhibition (IMDEX) 2023.
AIME allows navies of ASEAN member states and India to strengthen collaboration, enhance understanding, and build confidence to address common maritime security challenges at sea.

Meanwhile, as Asia's leading naval and maritime defence event, IMDEX Asia has mustered the world’s naval elite and the finest fleets of maritime innovations. Since its inaugural event in 1997, the maritime and defence exhibition has steered forward at the helm of the industry, becoming a platform for businesses of the sea to debut its latest vessels, systems, and technologies.
On the journey from Singapore to the Philippines’ Lubang, the Vietnamese delegation will engage in such AIME activities as taking aerial pictures, tracking targets, and sea logistics.

In the Philippines, they will join the ASEAN naval parade, the 2nd ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise (AMNEX-2), cultural and artistic exchange, and sports games.
The AMNEX, first held in 2017 in Thailand, is anchored on three main pillars – interoperability, responsiveness, and readiness – to address common regional maritime concerns.
The naval mission is part of Vietnam’s international integration and defence diplomacy to coordinate on shared maritime security challenges and further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the armies of Vietnam, other ASEAN countries, and the rest of the world./.
