The Secretary acknowledged that Cuba has adopted sound socio-economic development directions, with a focus on food and energy. He noted that Vietnam’s cooperation and sharing of experience are gradually helping Cuba strengthen its production capacity, moving toward future self-sufficiency in rice.

Regarding economic cooperation, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang expressed gratitude to Cuba for offering many preferential mechanisms for Vietnamese enterprises, such as tax exemptions and reductions, land leases, and favorable conditions in labor recruitment. He emphasized that in order to enhance attractiveness to investors, especially from Vietnam, Cuba should continue to expand preferential policies, as the current exchange rate remains a significant obstacle. He reaffirmed that Ho Chi Minh City is committed to actively promoting investment cooperation with Cuba, particularly in the context of commemorating the 100th birth anniversary of Leader Fidel Castro.

On behalf of the Cuban National Assembly delegation, President of the National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez expressed sincere thanks to the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City for taking the time to receive the delegation and for sharing valuable experiences in the city’s development into the nation’s economic locomotive.

He expressed deep admiration for the achievements in economic, social, and foreign affairs development of Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular. He stressed that the achievements and victories of the Vietnamese people have always been a great source of encouragement and inspiration for the revolutionary cause of the Cuban people.

President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez stated that Cuba pays special attention to studying the resolutions of the Communist Party of Vietnam, along with more than 50 laws passed by the Vietnamese National Assembly, and expressed the wish to learn from the development practices of Ho Chi Minh City - considered the country’s economic driving force.

He expressed his hope that Vietnamese enterprises, including those from Ho Chi Minh City, will expand investment in Cuba across many sectors such as economy, education, healthcare, biotechnology, and science and technology. He also highly appreciated Vietnam’s support in the fields of agriculture, renewable energy, and consumer goods production, which contribute to ensuring food security and improving the living standards of the Cuban people.

On this occasion, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez sincerely thanked the Party, State, and people of Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, for launching the movement to support the Cuban people through the program “65 Years of Vietnam-Cuba Solidarity,” which has helped Cuba overcome economic difficulties and natural disasters.
