Widespread Support from Localities
On September 14, at 30/10 Square, the Quang Ninh Provincial Red Cross, in coordination with the Provincial Youth Union, held a launching ceremony for the Month of Action to promote and mobilize support for the Cuban people (September 16 - October 16, 2025). This activity was held in response to the call of the Vietnam Red Cross Society on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba.

A large number of officials, Red Cross members, Youth Union members, and young people in Quang Ninh enthusiastically participated, contributing on the spot as an expression of solidarity and community responsibility. The Month of Action will be implemented throughout the province with practical activities to spread the spirit of the special Vietnam-Cuba friendship.
In Vinh Long, the Provincial Red Cross organized a mini football tournament with 12 teams and nearly 100 athletes taking part to raise funds in support of Cuba. Tu Minh Dien, President of the Provincial Red Cross, stated: “Every contribution, no matter how small, is a noble gesture that strengthens the Cuban people - our faithful and loyal friends.”
Earlier, the Quang Tri Provincial Red Cross reported that by September 12, the locality had raised more than VND 9.1 billion, leading the country in this campaign. The significant amount was made possible through the collective efforts of officials, Party members, local people, and businesses.
For Quang Tri, the bond with Cuba is particularly profound. In 1973, amid the smoke and fire of war, Cuban leader Fidel Castro visited the province. Following that historic event, hundreds of Cuban experts, engineers, and doctors came to assist Quang Tri and Quang Binh in building the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi - a vivid symbol of enduring international solidarity.
According to the Vietnam Red Cross Society, as of September 13, one month after the campaign was launched, the program had raised approximately VND 416 billion, 6.4 times the initial target of VND 65 billion.
Notably, on September 1, at the Headquarters of the Communist Party of Vietnam, under the witness of General Secretary To Lam and First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel, Vietnam presented the first installment of nearly VND 385 billion to Cuba.
Initiatives Spreading Solidarity
To ensure the program reaches a wide audience, ministries, sectors, and localities have carried out various forms of mobilization: organizing and launching ceremonies, calling for donations within agencies, institutions, schools, and armed forces. Alongside these efforts are many creative initiatives. The Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations directed the Literature and Arts Times, in coordination with the Vietnam Musicians’ Association and Tri Thuc So Media Group, to launch a songwriting contest titled “Vietnam - Cuba: Forever the song of friendship.” A special art night presenting the most outstanding works is expected to be held at the conclusion of the program.
On social media, many groups and online communities have also found their own ways to raise funds, such as collecting member fees to donate directly.
The program has quickly become a social phenomenon warmly embraced by the public, including schoolchildren and students. Simple yet touching stories, from children saving their breakfast money, to ordinary workers contributing from the heart, have moved millions, affirming the strength of compassion and the enduring bond of friendship.
The campaign “65 Years of Vietnam–Cuba Solidarity” will continue until October 16, 2025.
