Speaking at the reception, President of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations (HAUFO) Nguyen Ngoc Ky expressed his delight in welcoming the ICAP delegation to visit, work, and participate in activities marking the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day. He emphasized that the visit carries special significance in the context of the two countries organizing the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year 2025, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1960-2025).

Nguyen Ngoc Ky recalled the milestone of September 1973, when First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Fidel Castro became the first and only head of state to cross the 17th parallel to visit Quang Tri, affirming that the Vietnamese people always cherish the loyal affection and precious assistance Cuba has extended to Vietnam, including five socio-economic projects that bear strong imprints of friendship.
Responding to the movement “65 Years of Vietnam-Cuba Solidarity” launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations and the Hanoi Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association raised nearly 350 million VND in support of the Cuban people. “Though small in material value, this gift carries profound spiritual significance - it is a sincere encouragement to the Cuban people in times of hardship and challenge,” shared Nguyen Ngoc Ky.
The President of the HAUFO expressed his hope that, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties, the two sides will promote exchanges and cooperation, moving toward the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on activities related to peace, friendship, socio-economic development, and delegation exchanges - making Hanoi’s people-to-people diplomacy a highlight nationwide.

In response, Victo Fidel Gaute Lospez announced that ICAP will celebrate its 65th anniversary on December 31, 2025, and cordially invited the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations to attend. At the same time, in 2026, Cuba will solemnly commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro. He stressed that ICAP and the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations will continue to pursue activities of peace, friendship, delegation exchanges, and education for the younger generation.
He affirmed that ICAP will make thorough preparations to welcome the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations’ delegation to visit and work in Cuba, while also coordinating with the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam to expedite the signing of a cooperation agreement at the earliest opportunity.
