At the invitation of FranceAgriMer, the French national authority for agriculture and sea products, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang visited and had a working session at Salon Internationale de l’Agriculture - SIA on March 3.

He was accompanied by the head of the Vietnam Trade Office in France Vu Anh Son and the Agricultural Counselor of Vietnam in Belgium and the European Union Tran Van Cong.

During meetings with French agricultural associations such as the French pork council, the national committee of Wine, foie gras committee, inter-profession of the fresh fruit and vegetable, and the national committee for potatoes, the ambassador highlighted the strengths and strategies of Vietnam's current agricultural development.

He stressed that the importance of cooperation between Vietnam and France in agriculture was discussed by leaders of the two sides during Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to France in November 2021.

The issue was also discussed between Vietnam's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoàn and French partners.

They highlighted the need to focus on applying high technology and ensuring the quality and standards of goods in all aspects. Both sides openly discussed specific directions to promote trade and investment between the two countries

They confirmed that the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), which came into effect on Aug. 1, 2020, has enhanced cooperation between Vietnamese and EU enterprises, particularly those of the French, in the agricultural sector. The agreement creates an important boost for the import and export of agricultural products between the two sides.

Salon Internationale de l’Agriculture - SIA is France's largest agricultural trade fair and one of the world's leading fairs.

The event was first held in 1870 as a competition and gradually developed into a gathering hub for professional buyers and sellers. The fair welcomes regular visits of French politicians and has become a symbol of French agricultural policy.
