Vietnam, France Forge New Ties in Montpellier

At the meeting, Hugues Moutouh, governor of Herault province said that Montpellier and many localities of Occitanie region have close relationship with Vietnam in fields where the two sides have potential to develop.
The Montepllier city leader appreciated the current successes of cooperative projects. He emphasized the training model between Paul Valery Montpellier University (UPVM) and University of Languages & International Studies (ULIS), notably the university training program on Vietnamese culture-language at UPVM.
He wishes to continue enhancing Montpellier's strong projects and fields such as training, culture, language, public health and agricultural product processing.
Clare Hart, vice-mayor of the city of Montpellier also wants Vietnam to participate in the project of building Montpellier into a world-class medical center.
In meetings and exchanges with local government leaders, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang welcomed the efforts of the partners in developing the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The Ambassador invited them to participate in the 12th Vietnam-France decentralized cooperation conference in Hanoi at the end of December, activities in 2023 to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations and 10 years of Vietnam-France strategic partnership.

During the visit, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang and the delegation visited Paul Valery Montpellier University and discussed with French students participating in the program "Tremplin pour le Vietnam" ("Launchers towards Vietnam"). He and the students studying Vietnamese culture and language visited the memorial of Vietnamese workers in the village of Salin de Giraud.

Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang also attended the French-Vietnamese economic seminar organized by the program “Tremplin pour le Vietnam”.
On this occasion, the delegation of the Vietnamese Embassy in France visited the University of Montpellier, having Europe's oldest medical faculty with 800 years, cooperating with Vietnamese medical training institutions. He also met with representatives of local associations working with Vietnam.
