According to VNA correspondents in Berlin, the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany organized a seminar on August 21 to address the pressing issue of labor shortages by exploring avenues for cooperation in workforce recruitment and vocational training. The seminar focused particularly on Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, a state facing significant challenges due to demographic changes.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh highlighted the urgent need for skilled workers in Germany, a crisis exacerbated by an aging population. To strengthen ties between the two countries, the Ambassador proposed the expansion of vocational training programs that offer dual qualifications recognized in both Vietnam and Germany.

He also encouraged Germany to work closely with Vietnamese associations in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, especially in Rostock city, to support newly arriving workers.

Thanh Long, founder and CEO of GEDU International GmbH, reaffirmed his company’s commitment to addressing labor shortages in key sectors such as healthcare, hospitality, retail, technology, and craftsmanship. He emphasized that GEDU is planning to invest in a training facility in Vietnam, capable of accommodating up to 300 trainees annually.

Accordingly, this facility will provide language training, cultural orientation, and candidate assessment before the trainees begin their vocational training in Germany.

Parliamentary State Secretary of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, Patrick Dahlemann, expressed his willingness to assist with the necessary paperwork and initial services for incoming workers.

Jochen Schulte, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, announced a new policy, in collaboration with the state’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce, to establish a dedicated service center aimed at supporting immigrant workers.

Representatives from various companies also stressed the importance of support from both governments in areas such as visa issuance, immigration laws, and the mutual recognition of qualifications.
