On the evening of September 27, the People's Committee of Hue City coordinated with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea (RoK) in Vietnam to organize the "Vietnam-RoK Cultural Day 2025."
This crucial cultural diplomacy activity is part of a series of events that is set to take place in many localities across the country in 2025, aiming to strengthen the friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and the RoK.
"Vietnam - RoK Cultural Day 2025" is not only an event in the realm of culture and the arts, but also a large-scale people-to-people and cultural diplomacy initiative.
This is an opportunity for Hue to express its integration aspirations, affirming its new position as a centrally-run city. The event also creates a solid foundation for practical cooperation in culture, tourism, trade, and creative industries.
Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City, affirmed that the RoK has always been a particularly important and close partner for Hue. Over the past two decades, many development cooperation projects accompanied by the RoK have left a clear imprint.
Since 2007, Hue has successfully implemented 6 ODA projects with a total capital of about USD 55 million. From 2022 to 2026 alone, the city continues to receive non-refundable support projects through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Korean investors have expressed a growing interest in Hue, with many projects having been and are being promoted.
Furthermore, a series of cultural, artistic, film, culinary, and fashion exchange programs within the framework of Hue Festival and Community Ao Dai Week have deepened the friendship between the two peoples, contributing to turning Hue into a connection and creativity destination.
The Vietnam-Korea Cultural Day in Hue was not only an occasion to reinforce friendship but also an opportunity for the people of Hue to enjoy, feel, and better understand the unique culture of the land of Kimchi.
Phan Thanh Hai expressed hope for more cultural and artistic exchange activities, along with more diverse and extensive cooperation opportunities between Hue and Korean localities in the future.
Within the program's framework, approximately 100 booths were arranged to introduce the culture, tourism, cuisine, and unique traditional products of both countries.
Visitors had the opportunity to experience wearing traditional Hanbok costumes, participate in Korean folk games, enjoy traditional cuisine, join K-pop random dance activities, and admire handicrafts, Hue Ao Dai, and traditional craft village performances.
Notably, Gyeongju city - RoK's thousand-year-old ancient capital and host of the APEC Summit 2025 - was present at the event for the first time. The highlight of the "Vietnam-RoK Cultural Day 2025" was a series of unique art programs combining tradition and modernity.
The public enjoyed Hue Royal Court Music (a Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity), traditional RoK's music performances (Gugak), and youthful, vibrant K-pop and V-pop acts.
The event featured the Uheeska art troupe (RoK), singer Minh Hang from Vietnam, and many artists and artisans from Hue and other localities, promising a unique cultural exchange space that was both deeply traditional and modernly attractive.
The festival concluded on September 28.
