At the opening ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet emphasized that although Vietnam and North Macedonia are geographically distant, music and cultural experiences can bring the two nations closer together. She said the event not only promotes the image of Vietnam and its people but also strengthens friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries through culture - the most effective and enduring bridge between nations.
The Ambassador noted that, with more than 4,000 years of history and the rich cultural heritage of its 54 ethnic groups, Vietnam preserves its traditional values while developing as one of Asia's dynamic economies, actively integrating into the global community and making responsible contributions to international affairs. She added that the theme "Heritage - Harmony - Hospitality" reflects Vietnam's core values and was embodied throughout the cultural performances, exhibitions, and exchange activities featured at the event.

The exhibition introduced iconic destinations such as Ha Long Bay, Hoi An Ancient Town, the Trang An Landscape Complex, the terraced rice fields of Northwest Vietnam, and the Mekong Delta. Images of the ao dai, conical hats, and traditional festivals offered audiences in North Macedonia and international visitors a vivid glimpse of Vietnam's diversity, rich cultural identity, and hospitality.

The highlight of the event was a concert featuring Vietnamese traditional instrumentalists performing alongside the Luj Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Le Phi Phi. Meritorious Artist Tang Thanh Son and artist Dang Thanh Ngoc performed on the T'rung, K'rong Put, two-string fiddle (dan nhi), and pear-shaped lute (dan ty ba) in newly arranged compositions accompanied by the symphony orchestra, creating a distinctive fusion of Vietnamese traditional music and Western symphonic expression.
For many audience members in North Macedonia, it was their first opportunity to experience Vietnamese traditional musical instruments performed live through familiar melodies such as "Vietnam, My Homeland," "Trong Com," and "Quang Binh, My Homeland." The clear tones of the T'rung, the unique playing technique of the K'rong Put, the expressive sound of the two-string fiddle, and the elegant timbre of the pear-shaped lute repeatedly earned prolonged applause. Many audience members expressed admiration for the richness of Vietnam's traditional music and praised the creative arrangements that harmoniously blended national identity with modern symphonic art.
Under the direction of conductor Le Phi Phi, Vietnamese and North Macedonian musicians created a musical "dialogue" that brought the image of Vietnam closer to local audiences. Through the universal language of music, the performance conveyed messages of harmony, respect for diversity, and the aspiration to connect peoples while further deepening the friendship between Vietnam and North Macedonia.

In addition to the cultural and artistic activities, the Vietnamese culinary area also attracted many visitors. Guests had the opportunity to sample signature dishes and beverages such as fried spring rolls, banh mi, coconut water, lemon tea, and Vietnamese iced milk coffee. Beyond introducing authentic flavors, the culinary space also created opportunities for interaction, helping local visitors gain a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture and the country's tradition of hospitality.
The success of "Vietnam Day in Skopje 2026" once again demonstrated the important role of cultural diplomacy in promoting the country's image, fostering people-to-people exchanges, and strengthening mutual understanding. Through music, exhibitions, cuisine, and cultural exchanges, the event projected the image of a Vietnam that is rich in tradition, modern, dynamic, and welcoming to the people of North Macedonia and international friends.
