According to information from the Vietnamese Embassy to Singapore, in his opening speech, Ambassador Tran Phuoc Anh reviewed Vietnam’s achievements throughout its journey of national construction and development since President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945, affirming the universal values of freedom, dignity, and self-determination. Ambassador Tran Phuoc Anh emphasized that achieving Vietnam’s ambitious development goals will require strong partnerships, among which Singapore stands out as one of the country’s most persistent and dynamic partners. With extensive cooperation across various areas, ranging from economics, trade, defense, digital transformation, and green economy to human resource development, and the strong relationship between the two countries' leaders, the Ambassador believes that the journey toward a future of peace, innovation, and shared prosperity will be successful.

At the ceremony, Singapore's Coordinating Minister for the Public Services and Minister for Defense, Chan Chun Sing, expressed his appreciation for Vietnam's resilient and dynamic transformation process. He said that during his visit to Vietnam last month, he witnessed firsthand the dynamism of the Vietnamese economy and the determination of its people. The Minister expressed his belief that, with General Secretary To Lam's vision of an era of nation's rise, Vietnam will achieve its set goals.

He emphasized that the close cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore, especially in the fields of economy, green transformation, energy security, science and technology, innovation, defense, non-traditional security and people-to-people exchange, will not only benefit the two countries but also contribute to strengthening the central role of ASEAN, promoting an inclusive, rules-based regional architecture, towards stability and common prosperity.

The ceremony was also an opportunity to pay tribute to generations of Vietnamese ambassadors who have served in Singapore, in the context of the country having just celebrated its 60th National Day. Returning to his former place of service, Ambassador Duong Van Quang (term 2004–2007) expressed his emotions, emphasizing that the contributions of previous ambassadors were only the first bricks, and that this foundation continues to be built upon, allowing the Vietnam-Singapore relations to deepen further and evolve into a unique model of cooperation.

Within the framework of the celebration, attendees visited a photo exhibition highlighting 80 years of Vietnam’s development and the enduring imprint of Vietnam–Singapore cooperation. They also enjoyed an Ao Dai showcase, cultural performances, and Vietnamese cuisine, all of which left lasting impressions.

The celebration marked the beginning of a series of events co-organized by the Vietnamese Embassy to Singapore to commemorate Vietnam's 80th anniversary of Independence Day. These include an art program for the Vietnamese community, a networking golf tournament, and a screening of the film One Wish by director Ly Hai.
