Concluding the 19th meeting of the State Steering Committee for National Key Transport Projects, PM Chinh urged stronger efforts to reach the goal of completing 3,000 kilometres of expressways in 2025, especially key sections such as Ring Road 3 in Ho Chi Minh City, Bien Hoa–Vung Tau expressway, and Tuyen Quang–Ha Giang expressway. He also noted that Long Thanh International Airport remains a large-scale project requiring greater effort to welcome the first flight by the end of 2025.

The government leader expressed his satisfaction with the accelerating pace of transport projects nationwide, highlighting that by August 19, Vietnam is expected to complete 2,476 kilometres of expressways and 1,397 kilometres of coastal roads.

"If progress continues, we will not only meet but also exceed the targets of the 13th National Party Congress - completing 3,000 kilometres of expressways and 1,000 kilometres of coastal roads - which will be a great achievement to welcome the 14th National Party Congress," he stated.

The PM praised ministries and localities for their efforts in solving problems and accelerating construction, but stressed that much work remains with little time left, urging all parties to act with responsibility, patriotism, and dedication to the people.

He also emphasised that speeding up progress must go hand in hand with ensuring quality, safety, environmental protection, and proper planning of surrounding spaces. Inspection, supervision, and transparency are essential to avoid corruption, waste, and safety violations, the leader added.

PM Chinh asked relevant agencies to propose projects for ground-breaking and inauguration ceremonies marking the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2.

Regarding the Long Thanh International Airport project, the PM instructed a full review of the construction timeline, with added manpower and equipment if needed to ensure timely completion.

To prepare for the operation of expressways, PM Chinh requested faster progress on land clearance, rest stops, traffic monitoring systems, toll collection, and weight control. He stressed that when put into operation, these roads must meet the highest standards in terms of quality and design.

Finally, he called on transport authorities to improve connectivity between expressways and economic hubs, seaports, rail stations, and airports, ensuring efficient, nationwide integration.

Confident in the country’s efforts, PM Chinh affirmed that by the end of 2025, the whole country will successfully meet its transport development targets which will be an outstanding achievement to report to the 14th National Party Congress.
