Vietnam strives to become a high-income country by 2045: PM

On the morning of December 30, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired an online Conference with provinces.
Held annually at the end of the year by the Goverment, the online conference aims to review the country’s achievements in the past year and more importantly, set out the main tasks for the coming year. In recent years, the conference was also attended by General Secretary, President Nguyen Phu Trong.
Speaking at the conferment, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that 2019 could be considered as a “breakthrough” year as all 12 targets are achieved.
Specifically, GDP growth reached 7.02%, exceeding the set target of 6.8%, Vietnam is among top high-growth countries in the region and the world. Inflation is controlled at a low level of 2.79%, the lowest level in the past 3 years. Import-export scale reached 517 billion USD, the highest ever, trade surplus was over 9.9 billion USD. The number of newly established enterprises also reached a record, over 138,000 enterprises. In 2019, Vietnam welcomes over 18 million international visitors.
In 2020, creating jobs for more than 1.1 million laborers and by 2025, 5 million laborers will be a big challenge for the Government and localities. Therefore, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to give employment opportunities, promote creative startups to create added value and growth for the country
