The visit aimed to fulfill commitments to strengthen exchanges, build trust, and enhance cooperation between the two navies. During the meeting, Colonel Trinh Xuan Tung, Commander of Naval Region 5, expressed condolences for the losses caused by the March 28 earthquake in Thailand. He highlighted the effective collaboration between Naval Region 5 of Vietnam and Naval Region 1 of Thailand in implementing joint patrol regulations, maintaining communication, and resolving maritime issues promptly.
Colonel Tung emphasized that this visit, grounded in the strong neighborly relations and long-term cooperation between the countries, would contribute to furthering these commitments. Vice Admiral Arpa Chapanont echoed this optimism, expressing hope for increased collaboration in joint patrols, experience-sharing, and educating fishermen from both nations about compliance with maritime regulations to maintain peace and stability in their shared waters.
As part of the visit, the Royal Thai Navy delegation paid a courtesy call to leaders of the Phu Quoc City People's Committee and explored local cultural and historical sites. Officers and sailors from the FFG-421 also participated in seminars and exchange activities with Vietnamese counterparts from Brigade 127, Brigade 175, and Naval Region 5 Command. These engagements fostered a lively, united atmosphere, leaving a lasting positive impression on both navies.
