Vietnam-US Friendship Festival to Take Place in Da Nang

On June 22, the Vietnam-US Friendship Festival will take place in Da Nang City. The event is co-organized by the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, the US Embassy and Consulate in Vietnam, and the People’s Committee of Da Nang City. It marks the 30th anniversary of the normalization and establishment of Vietnam-US diplomatic relations (July 12, 1995 - July 12, 2025).

The event is expected to be attended by leaders of Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, the People’s Committee and relevant departments of Da Nang City, friendship unions and Vietnam-US Associations from neighboring provinces, the Viet Nam-US Alumni Club in Hanoi, as well as representatives from enterprises, research institutions, universities, scholars, and individuals engaged in collaborative relations with the US.

The US delegation will include representatives from the US Embassy in Hanoi, the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, US businesses, non-governmental organizations, and US friends currently living and working in Vietnam.

The series of activities will be held along Phan Dang Luu Boulevard in Da Nang and will offer a vivid portrayal of bilateral cooperation across various fields over the past three decades. Exhibition spaces will showcase activities of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, milestones in Vietnam-US relations, operations of US non-governmental organizations in Vietnam, and the achievements of the Vietnam-US bilateral cooperation in Da Nang.

The US exhibits will highlight contributions from the US diplomatic mission in Vietnam, a historical overview of the 250-year journey of the US, advancements in innovation and development, educational and cultural exchanges, American English, reconciliation efforts, US business engagement, and culinary booths featuring iconic American cuisine.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage in a variety of traditional Vietnamese folk games, such as bamboo pole dancing, sack racing, blindfolded balloon smashing, bottle-filling challenges, and the “mandarin square capturing” game; and American-style recreational activities including ring toss, three-legged races, frisbee, Hula Hoop contests, bottle flipping, a balloon-guarding game, and basketball.

In addition, the program will feature video presentations highlighting the Vietnam-US relations, promoting tourism in Da Nang, and introducing various aspects of American culture.

A highlight of the event will be the Vietnam-US cultural and artistic exchange program, featuring music and performances rich in cultural identity, contributing to a lively atmosphere and fostering deeper cultural bonds between the two countries.

The program is open to the public, welcomes local residents and visitors to participate.
