Within the framework of the program, on June 1, the delegation from the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) and Ambassador Le Thi Hong Van, permanent representative of Vietnam to UNESCO, had a meeting with Chairperson of the UNESCO's Executive Board Tamara Rastovac Siamashvili and Begona Lasagabaster, director of UNESCO Division of Gender Equality.

Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Minh Huong mentioned the guidelines and policies of the Party and State as well as the results of the socioeconomic development of Vietnam in recent years, including the positive role of women in many fields such as female leadership in government at all levels, health, education, and gender equality.

Director of UNESCO Division of Gender Equality Begona Lasagabaster appreciated Vietnam's experiences and achievements for economic, cultural, and social development goals in general and gender equality in particular.

She welcomed Vietnam's initiatives and support at UNESCO and international forums.

On May 30, at a meeting with leaders of the Vietnamese Embassy in France, VWU Vice President Nguyen Thi Minh Huong said that the overseas Vietnamese community, including Vietnamese women, is an integral part of the Vietnamese nation.

VWU has always given special attention to overseas Vietnamese women, especially in protecting the legitimate rights and dignity of Vietnamese women in interracial marriages and labor export activities.

Talking to the delegation, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang appreciated the role of women in the Vietnamese community living in France. They positively influence the community and Vietnam's multifaceted relations with the host country, especially in preserving and promoting traditional values and national cultural identity.

Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang also discussed the directions of cooperation, exchange, and connection of the Vietnam Women's Union with organizations and individuals in France. From there, VWU will mobilize financial and technical support for women's activities in areas of bilateral solid cooperation such as scientific research, health, economy, culture, and tourism.

The VWU delegation also worked with Vietnamese organizations and associations in France on the role of Vietnamese women abroad in promoting economic development, preserving traditional culture, and boosting Vietnamese language teaching.

With the desire to consider the Vietnam Women's Union as a common home for Vietnamese women both at home and abroad, overseas Vietnamese in France welcomed the Vietnam Women's Union as a place to share information, and carry out positive activities towards the homeland and the country.
