Vietnamese-American Woman Elected to the State Legislature of Oregon, USA
Thuy Tran received 72% of the votes cast in the US Democratic primaries, compared to 28% for Thomasson, an environmental consultant and former doctor.

Thuy Tran arrived in the US when she was 9 years old. She eventually joined the small group of Asian Americans in the legislature.
“I am proud that we were able to bring together community members in, leaders, and organizations from across Oregon to create change,” Train shared. “Next year's legislature will face big responsibilities, working to address homelessness, the rising price of housing and health care, climate change, and providing safety for all members of our community.”

She received $8,500 from the Oregon Association of Trial Lawyers, $5,000 from the Oregon Optometry Public Affairs Council, $4,000 from the Network, and $5,000 from the Oregon Hospital and Health System Association.
Thuy Tran will run as a Democratic candidate in Oregon for the US election in November.
