According to Vu Son Viet, after many years of being maintained, the tournament has become a familiar destination for football enthusiasts within the community. It has also helped nurture a sense of homeland attachment among younger generations of Vietnamese descent living in Russia. Several Vietnamese-origin players who once participated in the tournament have gone on to achieve notable progress in their careers, including Victor Le and Vadim Nguyen.
He emphasized that sports serve as an effective bridge for strengthening solidarity and bonds among Vietnamese people in Russia, while also creating opportunities for local residents to better understand the Vietnamese community and recognize its positive contributions to Russian society. The embassy representative expressed confidence that this year’s tournament would continue to spread the spirit of unity, compatriotism, and the positive values of the overseas Vietnamese community.
Do Xuan Hoang, Chairman of the Union of Vietnamese Organizations in the Russian Federation, highly appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee, players, and supporters in maintaining the tournament over the years. According to him, the event is not only a healthy sporting playground but also an activity that helps reinforce solidarity and motivates community members to stabilize their lives, develop their careers, and integrate successfully into the host society.

Do Xuan Hoang also shared concerns about the difficulties faced by some members of the community in recent times and expressed his hope that the community would continue to uphold the spirit of mutual support and actively participate in collective activities for the sustainable development of Vietnamese people in Russia.
First organized in 2011, the Vietnamese Community Football Tournament in the Russian Federation has now gone through 14 seasons over the past 15 years. From a grassroots sporting activity, the tournament has gradually become a symbol of solidarity and passion for football among overseas Vietnamese.
The Organizing Committee stated that this year’s season features nine teams competing in 25 matches over approximately one month. The final match is expected to take place on July 20. Although the number of participating teams is lower than in some previous seasons, the committee noted that the overall quality of competition has improved significantly, with a more balanced level among teams. Many new players who have recently arrived in Russia to study, work, and live are also participating, promising exciting and highly competitive matches.
The Organizing Committee called on players to compete in a spirit of unity, honesty, and sportsmanship; urged referees to officiate fairly; and encouraged supporters to cheer enthusiastically and respectfully in order to help build a positive image of the Vietnamese community in the Russian Federation.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the first matches of the season got underway, marking the beginning of an exciting journey of competition among the participating teams.
