Vietnamese Culture Introduced to International Public at Hong Kong Book Fair

The Hong Kong Book Fair has long been recognized as one of the region’s most prominent cultural events. It not only brings together renowned international authors but also serves as a platform for emerging talents to showcase their national cultural identity to a global audience.

At the 36th Hong Kong Book Fair, Bonnie Chau presented art projects deeply rooted in heritage values. She is widely known for curating creative spaces that preserve and promote Vietnamese traditions through handicrafts, heritage design, and, in particular, illustration and visual storytelling.

Through the medium of cinema and visual imagery, Bonnie Chau introduced to the Hong Kong public and international visitors the distinctive features of Vietnam’s cultural heritage, its diverse cuisine, and iconic landmarks - offering a vivid and engaging portrait of the country’s beauty and identity.

At the event, Bonnie Chau also introduced her Soul of Vietnam project to the public through a QR code linking directly to the project’s social media channels.

Designed as a cinematic storytelling platform, Soul of Vietnam captures everyday life, distinctive cultural heritage, and the gentle rhythm of Vietnam, while also reflecting the experiences of the Chinese community in the country. The project offers international audiences an authentic and emotionally resonant perspective on Vietnam’s identity.

As a Vietnamese of Chinese descent fluent in Cantonese, Bonnie Chau was uniquely positioned to engage directly with Hong Kong residents at the fair. Her deep understanding of cultural exchange enabled her to share stories of Vietnamese cuisine, scenic landscapes, and the warmth of its people in a relatable and lively way, fostering greater appreciation among local and international visitors.
