Shortly thereafter, the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in Vietnam so I stayed in Vietnam due to the urgent need of the Association to receive masks, disinfectant water, and vitamins sent by the Vietnamese community in Poland to support the local people. Due to the needs of the job, I decided that staying in Vietnam would make a better contribution."

Vietnamese sharing spirit shown through medical masks

In the pandemic period in Vietnam, medical masks become rare. According to Ms. Trieu, many Vietnamese in Poland use their own money, looking everywhere to buy medical masks to send to people in Vietnam. Even when they could manage to buy masks, the shipping process faced tons of struggles. Some Vietnamese who usually earning money by sending goods from Poland to Vietnam were willing to book flight tickets to transfers those masks without asking for any profit.

Thanks to the support from the Vietnam Embassy to Poland, the State Committee for overseas Vietnamese, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, those shipments went well.

Ms. Trieu said that at that time, medical masks in the country were extremely in shortage. She was touched to see that a trade union officer of a large hospital in Hanoi waited patiently to receive the shipment of masks sent by the Vietnamese community in Poland because the hospital only has 20 masks left.
