Many Vietnamese in Sweden have achieved notable success in various fields, including business and scientific research. The community has established numerous organizations, such as professional and industry associations, a scientific and technological experts’ network, business associations, and Vietnamese associations in various localities across Sweden.
During the meeting, community members proposed that the Prime Minister instruct relevant ministries and agencies to facilitate their regaining of Vietnamese citizenship. They also expressed a desire for better enjoyment of Vietnam’s rich cultural and artistic heritage, and called for collaboration with Swedish authorities to open a direct air route between the two countries.
Several Vietnamese experts and scientists holding significant positions in Swedish institutions and enterprises expressed their willingness to support and implement scientific and technological projects in Vietnam, particularly in the fields of medicine, nuclear energy, and artificial intelligence.
These experts and scientists recommended that the Party and State create favorable conditions and devise mechanisms to connect Vietnamese scientific and technological professionals in Sweden with those in Vietnam. They also called for facilitating the transfer of science and technology to Vietnam, offering preferential policies for research projects by overseas Vietnamese in Vietnam, and reducing or simplifying procedures, regulations, and standards to make it easier for overseas Vietnamese scientists to operate domestically.
After Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Sơn and other ministers addressed and clarified the community’s suggestions and concerns, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh delivered remarks, expressing deep emotion at the heartfelt patriotism of the Vietnamese community in Sweden.
He conveyed the regards and best wishes of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to the entire Vietnamese community in Sweden. The Prime Minister expressed his delight at the community’s continued growth, success, and unity, noting that many members hold prominent positions and possess deep expertise in important sectors, not only in Sweden and Vietnam but globally.
Reaffirming that overseas Vietnamese are an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation, the Prime Minister called upon the community to express their patriotism by striving to care for themselves, their families, and close friends. He emphasized that supporting the host community also reflects love for the homeland. He noted that everyone should contribute to national development according to their capacity, stressing that every contribution is deeply appreciated.
Regarding Vietnam-Sweden relations, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recalled that Sweden was the first Western country to recognize and establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam and also the strongest and earliest Western supporter of the Vietnamese people's resistance war against the US.
During the Doi Moi (Renewal) period and the country’s development, Sweden continued to provide Vietnam with valuable material and spiritual support. Key infrastructure projects funded by Sweden, such as the Vietnam-Sweden Children’s Hospital and the Bai Bang Paper Factory, have long stood as enduring symbols of the strong friendship between the two countries.
In the spirit of Vietnam-Sweden friendship, the Prime Minister expressed hope that the expatriates will make contributions to both countries as a reflection of Vietnam’s gratitude and sense of responsibility towards Sweden and its people.

He called on overseas Vietnamese to continue contributing to national development and affirmed that the Party and State always cherish and value the contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community. In recent years, numerous policies related to overseas Vietnamese have been revised to be more open and favorable, covering land, homeownership, visas, citizenship, labor, and more.
Responding to the suggestions and proposals of the community, the Prime Minister encouraged the Vietnamese community in Sweden to maintain unity and solidarity, support one another, and continue growing in strength. He urged the community to preserve and promote Vietnamese cultural values and to further deepen and enhance the substance and effectiveness of Vietnam-Sweden relations.

In particular, the Embassy must take good care of the Vietnamese community in Sweden, upholding the spirit of treating them as family, sharing and supporting them in times of hardship and adversity, with all the solidarity and compassion of fellow countrymen.
