According to the organization, one of the supported cases is Phung Van Bao (born in 2019, Nghe An). In October 2024, Bao underwent free surgery after being diagnosed with hydrocele, a condition requiring timely intervention to avoid affecting future development. Due to financial hardship, his family was unable to afford the surgery.

In Ha Tinh, Dang Khoa, an autistic child living with his grandparents, is currently participating in an intervention program at an Interaction and Rehabilitation Center funded by Zhi Shan Foundation. Every day, his grandparents, both over 70, travel nearly 50 km by motorbike to take him to therapy. After more than a year, Khoa has learned to read and write and can communicate more effectively.
The project began in 1998 after the organization learned about Do Duc Duyen, an infant in Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province (former), born with congenital disabilities. Following consultations in Vietnam, the foundation funded his surgery in Taiwan (China) when he was only a few months old.
This case attracted widespread attention and donations from people in Taiwan. The funds not only covered Duyen’s treatment but also helped establish financial resources to sustain and expand the project in Vietnam.
After returning home, his family continued to receive support, including housing assistance in Quang Tri town, nutritional care, essential supplies, and scholarships for his two older sisters.
In 2000, the project was officially launched in Quang Tri and later expanded to Thua Thien Hue (now Hue city), Quang Binh (now Quang Tri province), Ha Tinh, Quang Ngai, and Nghe An. Each year, about 150–210 children under 18 with mobility, urological, or digestive disabilities are screened and provided free surgeries.
By 2021, the foundation further expanded its efforts by funding the construction of three Interaction and Rehabilitation Centers in Hue, Ha Tinh, and Nghe An to support children with developmental disorders and autism.
After 25 years, the project has become a sustainable medical and social support program across many central provinces, helping children with disabilities and developmental disorders gain better access to treatment and rehabilitation.
