AstraZeneca Vietnam Chairman and General Director Nitin Kapoor has been bestowed with the Friendship Medal by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
This prestigious accolade was announced by the Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK Nguyen Hoang Long, adding to the festive cheer of the Vietnam-UK Friendship Year 2023.
The Friendship Medal recognizes Kapoor's leadership and role in contributing to the efforts of the Government of Vietnam during the pandemic as well as in the journey to improve health care.
Ambassador Nguyen Hoang Long praised Kapoor's contributions to promoting health care and sustainable development in Vietnam since he assumed the leadership role at AstraZeneca Vietnam in 2018.
The Ambassador appreciated Kapoor's strong commitment to the fields of medical innovation, strengthening the sustainability and resilience of the health system, as well as his proactive response to climate change.
AstraZeneca's long-term collaboration with Vietnamese health agencies and organizations has been marked by impactful health programs focused on raising awareness and promoting disease prevention and early detection.
The company committed significant investments in line with Vietnam's priority sustainable development goals, such as a US$50 million investment to restore forests and landscapes, supporting Vietnam's ambitious net zero emissions target by 2050.
AstraZeneca also plays an important role in technology transfer activities, marked by progress in technology transfer registration to promote the advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in the country.
With the Vietnam Young Physicians Association, AstraZeneca has introduced the "Health Innovation Network," spotlighting the "Digital Lung Health" project set to benefit 100,000 people in 2023 alone.
The Friendship Medal not only honors Kapoor's significant contributions but also affirms AstraZeneca's influential role in Vietnam's healthcare, recognized by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health for exemplary contributions to vaccine diplomacy, cancer treatment, the Covid-19 response, and patient support.
The company's repeated accolades from international business communities and recognition as one of Vietnam's Top 100 Best Places To Work further attest to its commitment to healthcare excellence.
During its three decades in Vietnam, AstraZeneca has collaborated with the Ministry of Health and industry partners to implement many impactful programs to promote awareness, prevention, and early detection of disease.
