Given the country's natural and social characteristics, Vietnam needs to focus on capacity building for the overall health systems to prevent disease outbreaks, said Dr. Eric Dziuban.
To further support Vietnam in raising community health, the US CDC will continue to support Vietnam's ministries on programs such as laboratory strengthening and improving pathogen detection to detect infectious diseases.

"We will continue to support strengthening surveillance systems that collect data about important health threats over time to make evidence-based decisions and to support emergency operation centers across the country," said Dr. Eric Dziuban.
US CDC representatives emphasized the importance of disease prevention programs that raise public awareness and improve community engagement.
Human resource education and training should be highly prioritized. Laboratories capabilities or data systems need to be improved to identify, share, and process health information into data to make quick yet reliable actions. In this regard, programs for epidemiologists between Vietnam and the US will continue to be carried out by both countries.
