Bac Ninh Learns From Italy’s Cooperative Development Model

The program provided an opportunity to strengthen people-to-people exchanges between Viet Nam and Italy, while discussing practical experience from Italy’s cooperative economy model, as the country is regarded as one of the birthplaces of the modern cooperative movement in Europe.

At the seminar, delegates learned about Italy’s country, people, culture and key characteristics of its cooperative economic development model. According to information shared at the event, the cooperative economy currently contributes around 8% of Italy’s GDP and is recognized in the country’s Constitution as an important economic sector associated with social equity, community development and sustainable job creation.

Experiences from Italy attracted strong interest from association members as cooperatives in Bac Ninh are accelerating operational reforms, brand building and participation in commodity value chains.

Bac Ninh currently has more than 2,100 cooperatives operating across various sectors. Many OCOP products from the province have expanded their consumer markets, gradually enhancing product value and competitiveness.

Delegates also discussed solutions to innovate the association’s operations in the new period and strengthen the promotion of Bac Ninh-Kinh Bac’s image to Italian friends through people-to-people exchanges, cultural cooperation and community connections.

At the event, leaders of the Bac Ninh Union of Friendship Organizations briefed participants on the conclusions of the 2025 review conference on people-to-people diplomacy and the orientations and tasks for 2026 in line with directives from the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat. They also discussed future operational orientations for the Viet Nam-Italy Friendship Association.
