Ca Mau strictly handles illegal foreign workers amid Covid-19 fear

Chairman of Ca Mau Province People’s Committee on May 23 required departments, branches, and localities to review and ramp up the supervision of all production establishments and enterprises where foreign workers are working, Dan Tri reported.
The chairman has asked to resolutely prevent illegal immigrants from working in the locality. He has also requested to inspect and adjust the regulations on issuing work permits for foreign workers in accordance with the laws.
Any establishment using the illegal foreign laborers will face strict consequences, he said.
The local authorities have been ordered to consider deporting foreign workers without work permit or those breaching the regulations on foreign workers working in Vietnam.
Production establishments and enterprises with foreign workers must strictly adhere to anti-pandemic measures.
Nguyen Quoc Thanh, Director of Ca Mau Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs said it had been collaborating with the police force to review and make a list of foreign workers in the province.
As of late April, as many as 28 foreign laborers have worked in Ca Mau. All of them have work permits.
Vietnam has closed its borders and suspended all international flights from March 25, 2020 and stopped issuing visas for foreign nationals since March 18. Only Vietnamese citizens, foreigners with diplomatic passports, foreign experts or highly skilled workers are allowed to enter the country. Everyone has to be quarantined for 14 days on arrival.
