On January 22 in Dak Lak, the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) and CARE in Vietnam, in coordination with local authorities in Dak Lak and Gia Lai provinces and the Dak Lak Provincial Community Development Center, implemented a multi-purpose cash distribution for households severely affected by Typhoon No. 13 and subsequent heavy rains and flooding.

The assistance was delivered in four communes: Yang Mao, Dong Xuan and Phu Mo in Dak Lak, and Tuy Phuoc Dong in Gia Lai. These localities suffered serious damage to housing and livelihoods due to floods, flash floods and landslides caused by Typhoon No. 13 and the heavy rains in late November 2025.
Thai Minh Huong, representative of the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), stated: “The coordination between the Ministry, CARE and businesses helps optimize relief resources. Providing cash assistance in January 2026, on the eve of Tet, not only has material significance but also offers strong moral encouragement, helping people stabilize their lives sooner.”
The project represents a strong combination of resources between state management agencies and the private sector. The Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control serves as a strategic partner, providing technical guidance and coordinating activities at the regional scale. At the grassroots level, commune authorities are direct implementing partners, ensuring transparent review, beneficiary listing and distribution in line with eligibility criteria.

Households supported under this project belong to vulnerable groups, including those facing severe hardship, households where women are the main breadwinners, the elderly, and families that lost all assets after the floods. Each household received 4,000,000 VND in cash, enabling families to independently purchase essential goods or reinvest in seedlings and livestock after the storm. In addition, 11 households in Yang Mao commune, Dak Lak province, received 25,000,000 VND per household to repair their homes.
Representing Dong Xuan commune authorities, Nguyen Ngoc Tien, Vice Chairman of the Commune People’s Committee, shared: “As the direct implementing unit, we are committed to close coordination to ensure that the 4 million VND support reaches each household quickly and fairly. This is a valuable source of capital for people to restore production after the storm.”
