CERF Supports 3,200 Households in Gia Lai After Floods

The figures were announced at a conference reviewing the program “Cash Assistance, Housing Recovery and Essential Items Support for Vulnerable Households Affected by Floods in Gia Lai Province,” organized by the Gia Lai Red Cross on April 14.

According to Gia Lai Newspaper, the program is funded by the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It has been implemented since January 2026 across 124 villages and residential areas in seven communes and wards in the eastern part of Gia Lai province, targeting vulnerable households affected by floods.

After four months of intensive implementation, the program has delivered tangible results, benefiting 3,200 households. Of these, 1,920 households received multipurpose cash assistance to cover essential needs and restore livelihoods; 293 households whose homes were damaged received financial support for repairs; and 1,000 boxes of essential supplies were distributed to affected families.

With a spirit of solidarity and a commitment to leaving no one behind, the program has provided timely support to help residents overcome immediate hardships, restore livelihoods, stabilize their lives, and enhance resilience to future disasters.

In 2025, natural disasters caused severe damage in Gia Lai province. Five people were killed and 11 injured; more than 100,000 houses were damaged or flooded; and 560 boats were affected.

Over 540 hectares of aquaculture areas were damaged; 254 cages and rafts were completely destroyed; thousands of hectares of rice and crops were impacted; and many livestock and poultry were killed or swept away. Total losses were estimated at more than VND 11.636 trillion.
