Cultural Week Helps Promote Spanish Language and Culture in Hanoi
A voiceover contest for movie excerpts, a Spanish speaking contest, cuisine booths from Spanish-speaking countries, and Luminiscente art gala, are exciting activities taking place at the 2024 Culture Week of Spanish-speaking countries at Hanoi University.
Attending the program were representatives of the Embassies of Spanish-speaking countries in Vietnam including the Chile, Colombia, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, and Peru, Spain, El Salvador, Uruguay, Venezuela, along with Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association and Vietnam - Spain Friendship Association of Hanoi.

Speaking at the opening of the program, Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Rector of Hanoi University, said that knowing Spanish helps each learner open the door to 21 countries located in 3 different continents with unique experiences and cultures.
This year's Cultural Week will not only help strengthen the friendship between Hanoi University and the embassies of those nations, but also help the university's students have more interesting and expressive understanding of the culture of Spanish-speaking countries. Thereby, contributing to the process of promoting connectivity and expanding diplomatic relations, trade and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Spanish-speaking countries.

The 2024 Cultural Week of Spanish-speaking countries event has many different activities such as talks about the countries, culture and their peoples; movie screenings; dubbing contests and Spanish speaking contests; cooking classes featuring typical dishes of Spanish-speaking countries; food stalls as well as performances, among others.
According to school leaders, Cultural Week of Spanish-speaking countries is an annual activity held every April at Hanoi University. The event helps students studying at the Spanish Department improve their communication skills; expand knowledge about the cultures, societies and people of Spanish-speaking countries.
This event also helps connect lecturers, generations of students and those who are interested and love Spanish to have the opportunity to learn about the language and cultural identity of Spanish-speaking countries.
