The delegation consisted of the President of the Dong Thap Union of Friendship Organizations Le Xuan Hai, the Director of Dong Thap External Relations Department Nguyen Huu Xuan, the Second-in-command of the Dong Thap Provincial Border Guards and the Deputy Director of the Dong Thap Provincial Center for Disease Control.

At the ceremony, Hai discussed the Covid-19 situation in Vietnam, particularly in Dong Thap province, and shared information about Dong Thap’s Covid prevention measures such as social distancing at the provincial level and providing timely support to businesses and local people facing challenges brought by the pandemic.

Hai said leaders of Dong Thap province always cared about the overseas Vietnamese community in Cambodia who were confronted by the Covid-19 pandemic while dealing with clearance and relocation issues as a result of the floating house and fish raft dismantle orders in Phnom Penh.

Dong Thap leaders said they hoped that the Khmer – Vietnam Association in Cambodia would inform the Vietnamese community about the care and support of Dong Thap authorities and people. At the same time, Dong Thap hoped that the community would stay calm, adhere to the regulations of both countries and not return to Vietnam now due to the complicated Covid situation.

Members of the delegation also provided information on the policies to prevent Covid and efforts to support overseas Vietnamese.

Through the Khmer – Vietnam Association in Cambodia, Hai gave the letter of the President of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee to the Vietnamese community in Cambodia, along with cash and gifts valued at VND 150 million.

Chau Van Chi, president of the Khmer – Vietnam Association, thanked the People’s Committee of Dong Thap province and other agencies for their support of the Vietnamese community in Cambodia. Chi affirmed that the association would soon visit and distribute the donations from Dong Thap to the most vulnerable Vietnamese people in Cambodia.

Dong Thap is one of the provinces in Vietnam supporting the Vietnamese community in Cambodia who are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The visit was carried out in a warm, friendly atmosphere ensuring that all Covid prevention measures recommended by Vietnam’s Ministry of Health were strictly followed.
