At the meeting on May 4 afternoon, the Steering Committee for COVID-19 prevention and control said that the application of information technology tools and systems should be increased to help combat the pandemic, to synthesize information of all arrivals to Vietnam; and to supervise self-isolation.

Information technology units research and propose attaching electronic bracelets to supervise foreign experts and employees entering Vietnam. The bracelets can be used to monitor foreign arrivals from the moment they enter Vietnam, during their centralized quarantine and self-isolation periods. Enterprises that register to bring international experts into Vietnam must commit to guiding those experts to strictly follow pandemic prevention regulation, ensuring that they avoid gatherings.

Solutions should be found to monitor transmission risk in the community, update on the pandemic situation and classify different risks in different localities.

Through analyzing some cases that caused community outbreaks after completing their centralized isolation, the Steering Committee stated that the handover, reception, and follow-up of people completing concentrated isolation could be improved. A typical example is "Patient 2899" in Quan Nhan village, Dao Ly commune, Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam province, who held gatherings, met other people after returning home to self-monitor. Another example is the case of a Chinese specialist who, after completing the concentrated isolation in Yen Bai, has moved to many localities.

Commenting on the current pandemic situation in Vietnam, the Deputy PM said that "The situation is still very complicated, but basically up to now, we are still under good control". He noted that this time Vietnam has both pandemic risks from the domestic transmission and under great pressure from the pandemic situation in neighbors on the southwest border. In the coming time, the country will enter the rush period to review foreign arrivals, including workers at establishments where many foreigners visit. In addition, the recorded Indian virus strain spreads faster and causes more severe damage, so all units need to be more determined.
