In his directive remarks at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that external information work plays an extremely important role and carries strategic significance in the cause of national construction and defense; it is an integral part of political and ideological work, and a regular, long-term task of the entire political system, closely linked with Party external relations, State diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy. In recent times, external information work has made significant contributions to outstanding achievements in foreign affairs and has served as a catalyst for the country’s impressive and comprehensive socio-economic development results.
According to the Prime Minister, in the time ahead, external information work needs to be proactive and timely in identifying opportunities and challenges, and contribute more actively to the successful implementation of strategic objectives; spreading the values of an independent, self-reliant, peaceful, cooperative, friendly, developing, prosperous, and happy Vietnam. To further enhance the effectiveness of external information work, the Prime Minister underscored several key orientations:

First, closely adhere to the Party’s and State’s foreign policy guidelines and orientations, particularly the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW of the Politburo on international integration in the new situation; affirming a confident, self-reliant, resilient, dynamic, and creative Vietnam that makes positive contributions to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
Second, renew thinking and approaches, ensuring strategic proactiveness in both the short and long term; develop well-structured programs with rich content and attractive, persuasive formats, ensuring accessibility, modernity, and multimedia integration.
Third, promote the application of digital technologies, effectively leverage global communication platforms (social media, digital platforms, artificial intelligence, big data, etc.), to attract a growing audience and better serve foreign audiences as well as the domestic public.
Fourth, build a contingent of external information professionals who are steadfast, sharp-minded, creative, responsible, and possess both dedication and vision; who devote themselves wholeheartedly, demonstrate courageous commitment, and are undeterred by hardship, with the spirit of “steel in the pen, fire in the heart,” “using the good to counter the bad, and the positive to push back the negative.”
Fifth, bring into play the combined strength of the entire political system; establish close and effective coordination mechanisms among ministries, sectors, and localities; between domestic media and international media; and form and develop an increasingly practical and effective external information network.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his confidence that the National Awards for External Information will continue to generate greater motivation, inspiration, and renewed momentum, enabling those working in external information to fully unleash their talent, intellect, dedication, creativity, and sense of responsibility, successfully fulfill their assigned tasks, and make increasingly practical and effective contributions to the cause of national construction, development, and defense in the new era.
The 11th National Awards for External Information in 2025 attracted 2,412 entries, double the average number of submissions in previous editions. The themes of the works and products comprehensively covered major political, diplomatic, and cultural events, as well as the country’s achievements across various fields.
The awards recognize external information works and products in eight categories: Vietnamese-language newspapers/magazines; foreign-language newspapers/magazines; radio; television; books; photography; digital and multimedia products; and initiatives and products with significant value in external information.
Entries submitted by foreign authors demonstrated their understanding and fresh perspectives on Vietnam. This also marked the first time the award organization applied digital technology, innovating participation methods and conducting online submission and judging.
