First Performance of Japanese Martial Arts Takes Place in Vietnam in November

According to the press release by Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO), the program aims to bring the diverse martial arts culture of Japan to Vietnamese audiences.

The Japanese martial arts troupe perfoming at the program will bring 70 members, including veteran coaches and masters from 12 martial arts school in Japan. Among them are 9 modern martial arts including Judo, Kendo, Kyudo, Sumo, Karatedo, Aikido, Shorinji Kempo, Naginata, Jukendo and 3 traditional martial arts schools, namely Tennenrishinryu Kenjutsu, Muhi Muteki Ryu Jojutsu, Ryukyu-Oukehiden-Motobu Udundi. The martial artists will demonstrate the most quintessential techniques, giving the audience a comprehensive view of the diversity and depth from Japan.

Ho Xuan Lam, Vice Chairman, General Secretary of HUFO, believes that the event is not only a sports activity but also has a deep cultural significance, contributing to strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and Japan. He noted that this is a bridge to help the young generation of the two countries better understand and appreciate each other's cultural values, thereby building a harmonious and sustainable community.

On the other hand, Komura Masahiko, Head of the Japanese Martial Arts Troupe, said that this is the first international performance of the troupe after the Covid-19 pandemic. Previously, the Japan Martial Arts Union sent troupes to perform in 18 countries and Vietnam was the 19th destination since the first performance in Cuba in 2001.

Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City Ono Masuo, hoped that people will have more interest and deep understanding of Japanese martial arts after joining the event.
