Francophone Space Launched at Hanoi Medical University

During the event, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu highlighted that Hanoi Medical University has successfully implemented the Francophone medical training program for the past two decades. He emphasized that the establishment of the Francophone Space will provide opportunities for students and lecturers to enhance their proficiency in French within medical fields, while also participating in cultural and academic activities within the Francophone community.
Ambassador Olivier Brochet expressed his delight at the inauguration of the Francophone Space. He reminisced about the long-standing relationship between Hanoi Medical University and the French Republic, dating back to the tenure of Dr. Alexandre Yersin, the institution's first Rector.
Ambassador Brochet also reaffirmed his commitment to continuing support for the training of Vietnamese medical professionals. Over the past 30 years, he noted, France has trained over 3,000 Vietnamese doctors, with more than 1,500 hailing from Hanoi Medical University.

The Ambassador further emphasized that medical cooperation would be a central focus during the upcoming visit to Vietnam by French President Emmanuel Macron. The aim is to further refine and expand bilateral cooperation mechanisms in this field.
Nicolas Mainetti, Director of Francophone University Agency (AUF) for Asia-Pacific, highlighted that the student exchange program is a key component of AUF's 2025-2029 strategy. He expressed hope that Hanoi Medical University would deepen its participation in this initiative and anticipated that the university's Francophone Space would be recognized as the first Francophone medical employment center at universities in the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, he envisioned that the Hanoi Medical University Francophone Club would become one of 15 Francophone student clubs in the region.
