Hai Phong: Vietnamese and International Melodies Foster Friendship

Familiar Vietnamese songs, alongside melodies associated with the cultures of Laos, Cambodia, Russia, Cuba and France, were featured at the 2026 Peace Song Exchange Program, held on October 7 in Hai Phong.

50 Years of Viet Nam-Philippines: Friendship and Cooperation Strengthening Ties with Hungarian Friends Who Love Viet Nam

The program was organized by the Hai Phong Union of Friendship Organizations in coordination with the city's Peace Committee to mark the International Day of Peace (September 21) and commemorate the 76th anniversary of the traditional day of people-to-people diplomacy (November 17, 1950 - November 17, 2026).

Participants included city leaders and representatives of departments, agencies, mass organizations, member friendship associations, universities and high schools, as well as a large number of Vietnamese members, pupils and students and international students.

Under the theme “Melodies of Peace - Connecting Friendship,” the program featured 19 performances divided into four artistic chapters.

The first two chapters, “Origins, Homeland and Soldiers” and “Homeland and Country,” featured songs such as “Singing in the Pac Bo Forest,” “A Sailor’s Love Poem,” “My Homeland Has Never Been More Beautiful,” “Flamboyant Flowers on a Distant Island” and “A Tour of Viet Nam.” These performances evoked love for the homeland and country, as well as national pride.

The “International Friendship” chapter was a highlight of the program, featuring performances by bilateral friendship associations alongside pupils and students. Audiences enjoyed songs including “Lao-Vietnamese Affection,” “Vietnam-Laos Solidarity,” “Moscow Evenings,” “Guantanamera,” “Em Dep Em Xinh” and “Bonjour Viet Nam.” Bringing Vietnamese and international songs together on one stage showcased friendship and cultural affinity among the participating nations.

The program concluded with three performances, “Comrades Reunited,” “Aspiration” and “Viet Nam - Proudly Moving Toward the Future,” under the final chapter, “Comradeship, Aspiration and the Future.”

Speaking at the event, Nguyen Van Thu, President of the Hai Phong Union of Friendship Organizations, said music and art were universal languages capable of connecting hearts and overcoming geographical distances, language barriers and cultural differences. He noted that the program provided a platform for cultural exchange, helping strengthen ties between the people of Hai Phong and international friends while providing fresh momentum for people-to-people diplomacy in the new era.
