Hanoi’s election committee on March 20 issued a resolution announcing the local election results and the list of successful candidates to the 17th municipal People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term, comprising 125 members.
Nguyen Minh Long, Director of the city’s Department of Home Affairs, said the capital had over 6.01 million registered voters, of whom more than 5.98 million cast ballots, a turnout of 99.57%. No polling area recorded participation below 50%, while 2,669 out of its 4,098 polling stations reported 100% turnout.
Notably, 39 voters aged over 100 took part in the ballot, with the oldest at 110 from Ba Vi commune.
Hanoi elected the full quota of 32 deputies to the National Assembly and 125 members to the municipal People’s Council, ensuring compliance with the prescribed structure and composition. No constituency was required to hold a re-election or additional vote.
The resolution states that the election results and the list of elected representatives take effect from the date of signing. Relevant agencies, organisations, and units, including the municipal People’s Council and People’s Committee as well as the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, and other concerned bodies and individuals are responsible for implementing the resolution.
The announcement provides an important basis for consolidating the new-term municipal People’s Council, thereby enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of local administration and meeting the capital’s development requirements in the new period.
