Ho Chi Minh City's Vietnam-Netherlands Friendship Association Debuts

The Vietnam-Netherlands Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City was established as a focal point, creating a channel to connect and support organizations and businesses of the two countries to strengthen cooperation and investment.

The Vietnam-Netherlands Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City is a place to organize cultural and art exchange activities, experiences, support, and help between members, businesses, organizations of Dutch citizens living and working in the city.

The founding congress of the HCM City's Vietnam-Netherlands Friendship Association for 2022-2027 took place on March 18.

The congress was attended by leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO), the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, the Consulate General of the Netherlands in HCM City, and the Dutch Business Association in HCM City, representatives of city departments and nearly 100 official members and honorary members of the association.

The association's goal is to act as a contact point, create favorable conditions, and support organizations and businesses of the two countries to strengthen cooperation and investment, especially in fields HCM City and the Netherlands have advantages.

These include investment, financial services, trade, tourism, cultural exchange, education - training, scientific research, technology transfer, high-tech agriculture, clean energy use, circular economy, waste reduction production; solutions to combat flooding and climate change; programs for the community, charity, welfare support, poverty eradication, and sustainable development.

The association is also a place to organize cultural and art exchange activities, exchange experiences, support, and help between members, businesses, organizations of Dutch citizens living and working in HCM City.

According to Tran Trong Dung, vice chairman of Vietnam Journalists' Association, chairman of the municipal Journalists' Association, head of the Committee for the establishment of the city's Vietnam-Netherlands Friendship Association, the association will implement activities in line with the principle of purpose, improving the efficiency of foreign affairs, contributing to popularize the image of the country and people of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City and the Netherlands to the people of the two countries and friends around the world.

The Consul General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City Daniel Coenraad Stork expressed his joy when the association was established.

He said that the Dutch Government attached importance to the two countries' comprehensive partnership and their partnerships in trade and investment, people-to-people diplomacy, and the implementation of the United Nations' sustainable development goals.

The Consul General emphasized that 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands. This is an important milestone that will deepen the relationship between the two countries. The Netherlands is not only Vietnam's second-largest trading partner in the European Union but also the largest investor in Vietnam in this region.
