Homeland Spring Programme for OVs in Vladivostok, Russia

Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in Russia gathered at a “Xuan que huong” (Homeland Spring) programme in Vladivostok on the occasion of the coming Lunar New Year (Tet) - the most important festival of Vietnamese people in a year.

The Consulate General of Vietnam in the Russian city of Vladivostok has just organized a program to welcome the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) according to national traditions.

Attending the ceremony were a large number of officials, employees and family members of the Vietnamese Consulate General, the Trade Office Branch, the Executive Committee of the Vietnamese Association in Primorye and Khabarovsk regions, and a large number of students along with nearly 200 expats working and living in Primorye region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Consul General in Vladivostok Nguyen Dang Hien said that the Lunar New Year is a long-standing traditional cultural beauty of our nation. Every year, on this occasion, wherever they are, Vietnamese people always turn towards their original homeland.

On the eve of the Lunar New Year 2023, Hien informed people of the country's outstanding achievements, review the results of cooperation between Vietnam and Russia last year.

In the atmosphere of solidarity, looking to the homeland to welcome a new spring with the development aspirations of the nation, Hien extended his best wishes to representatives of Vietnamese community and guests, expressing his hope that the Year of the Cat will bring good luck, success, and prosperity to all.

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Vladivostok continues to work with the Vietnamese Association in the Far East region to make efforts to build a united and strong community, integrate into the local society, and preserve the cultural identity and towards the homeland with more diversified activities, contributing to cultivating the good traditional relations between Vietnam and Russia.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Consulate General, Hien presented certificates of merit to a number of collectives and individuals, recognizing and praising their contributions to community activities last year.

After that, all participants made a toast to congratulate the new year, enjoyed traditional Tet dishes, featured musical performances and participated in spring welcoming activities.

Previously, officials and employees of the Consulate General and the Vietnamese community who are working, studying and living in Vladivostok, held a flower offering ceremony in memory of President Ho Chi Minh at his monument in a flower garden named after him.

The 2.3m-high statue, created by Russian sculptor Peter Chegodaev, is placed in a park at Borishenko street of Vladivostok city.

The late leader stayed at Versaille hotel during all the three times he visited Vladivostok.

This is an activity held regularly every New Year's Eve and spring in the Far East to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh's meritorious service to the great revolutionary cause of Vietnamese people.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese students in Japan and Vietnamese in Thailand and Burnei took part in get-togethers to celebrate the upcoming Tet on January 14 to bring Tet atmostphere to Vietnamese who are living and working far from home.
