ILO Supports Vietnam in Creating Jobs And Ensuring Social Security

According to Director of the International Cooperation Department of MOLISA Luu Quang Tuan, since the Decent Work Agenda was launched globally by the ILO, Vietnam and the ILO jointly developed and signed to implement three cycles of cooperation for the periods 2006-2010, 2012-2016 and 2017-2021.

During these three cycles, the Government and social partners worked with the ILO to focus on improving the quality and sustainability of growth through human resource development.

They promoted inclusive, equitable and dynamic development through social policies, improved the social security system, focus on supporting disadvantaged, vulnerable groups, and strengthen labor market governance.

According to Luu Quang Tuan, in the fourth cooperation cycle - period 2022-2026, with the support of the ILO, the focus is still on employment, human resource development and social security, ensuring harmony between the rights of workers and businesses, consistent with the country's sustainable development strategy as well as the United Nations' Sustainable Development Agenda.

Ingrid Christensen, director of the ILO Vietnam shared some cooperation content on employment and social security.

Sharing with the delegates, Ingrid Christensen, director of the ILO Vietnam, said that this program is not only implemented in Vietnam but also in many places around the world.

It sets out a framework for the parties to cooperate and develop decent work in the country, taking into account the socio-economic conditions of each country, along with the support of the ILO.

Employment promotion focuses on the informal sector, young workers, and efforts to eliminate child labor and forced labor.

Within the framework of the program, delegates discussed policy consulting activities, including international lessons for Vietnam in the process of amending labor laws and policies, including the Social Insurance Law and the Employment Law.

Opinions also focused on social issues in the context of digital transformation, population aging, and climate change that are taking place rapidly, towards a green economy and circular economy.

They also discussed building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations at businesses, to ensure harmony of the interests of workers, businesses and society.
