Vietnam, Iran to Tap Potential and Opportunities for Tourism Development

According to the General Statistics Office, in the first half of 2024, Vietnam’s tourism sector witnessed significant growth.

Vietnam attracted more than 8.8 million foreign tourists in the first six months of 2024, according to the General Statistics Office. This marks a remarkable 58.4% increase over the previous year and a 4.1% increase over the same period in 2019 (pre-Covid-19).

Among the 8.8 million international tourists, air travel accounted for 83.8%, followed by road travel (14.3%) and sea travel (1.9%).

South Korea remained the largest source market, with 2.28 million tourists visiting Vietnam in the first six months. China ranked second, with approximately 1.9 million visitors. Other top-ten markets included Taiwan, the United States, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, India, Cambodia, and Thailand.
