Ho Chi Minh City orientates tourism development linked to urban economy, night-time economy, culture industry and experience economy, changing from event organizing model to developing event economy model.

The United States remains Vietnam’s largest export market, with export turnover reaching US$86.5 billion in the first six months of 2026. Shortly after issuing a public appeal for information on the burial sites of soldiers who were killed during the battle at Tan Son Nhat Airport in the 1968 Tet Offensive, the Ho Chi Minh City High Command received more than 50 phone calls and text messages from witnesses and local residents. The information has provided additional leads to support the verification, search, recovery, and identification of the fallen soldiers' remains.

On July 7, 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations, the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam–France Friendship Association, and the Institute for Cultural Exchange with France (IDECAF) jointly organized a program celebrating the National Day of the French Republic and opening the exhibition “Vietnam-France Artistic Exchange 2026.”
