According to information from the Khanh Hoa Border Guard, at the conference, officers from the Thanh Hai Border Guard Station provided updates on legal regulations related to fisheries exploitation; mandatory requirements for fishing vessels when departing from and entering ports; the maintenance and operation of vessel monitoring systems; and penalties for violations of IUU regulations. Authorities also guided fishermen on how to identify maritime boundaries to avoid encroaching into foreign waters, and emphasized the role of fishermen in contributing to the removal of the European Commission’s “yellow card” on Viet Nam’s fisheries sector.

Earlier, on November 22, officers and soldiers from the Thanh Hai Border Guard Station visited each fishing household and each vessel anchored at My Tan Fishing Port to provide direct communication and detailed explanations on IUU prevention regulations. The border guard force also worked with local authorities to inspect and review the operational status of fishing vessels. Through the inspection, authorities placed “not eligible for operation” signs on 21 fishing vessels in the area to ensure strict management and prevent risks of violations during fishing activities.
These communication and inspection activities help raise awareness among the fishing community, aiming toward a sustainable and law-compliant fisheries sector.
